Is it worth paying extra for the genuine Audi transmission oil?

I'm getting ready to do a transmission service on my A5 and I've been shopping around for the right oil, but honestly I'm a bit shocked at the price difference between the genuine Audi stuff and some of the well-regarded aftermarket alternatives that claim to meet the same specifications. The genuine oil is literally more than double the price of some reputable brands like ZF or Ravenol, and I'm trying to figure out if the extra cost actually translates to better protection and performance, or if I'm just paying for the Audi logo on the bottle. I've spent hours reading forums and watching videos, and the opinions seem to be completely split on this. Some people insist that you should only ever use the genuine oil because the transmissions are so sensitive and any deviation from the factory spec can cause issues, while others swear by the aftermarket options and say they've been using them for years without any problems. I came across a really useful Rapid Audi Oil Change Guide Service that compared the different fluid options side by side and explained the technical specifications in a way that actually made sense to me. The guide pointed out that the key thing is to make sure the oil meets the exact VW/Audi approval number, not just claims to be "compatible," because there are subtle differences in viscosity and additive packages that can affect how the transmission performs, especially when it's cold. I'm leaning towards paying the extra for the genuine stuff just for peace of mind, because the potential cost of a transmission failure is so much higher than the saving on oil. But I'm still curious to hear from people who've gone the aftermarket route and had good or bad experiences, because if the quality is genuinely identical then I'd rather save the money for something else. Has anyone here used non-genuine oil in their S tronic and regretted it, or has it been absolutely fine? I'd appreciate some honest real-world feedback before I make my final decision. Cheers.
