I've got a 2019 Honda CR-V that I absolutely love, but I'm on my third battery in just over four years and I'm starting to wonder if there's something wrong with the car or if this is just what happens when you live somewhere with extreme heat. The current 60AH battery was installed about 15 months ago and already I'm noticing that the car struggles to start after sitting for a couple of days, and the auto start-stop feature has stopped working completely which I know is often a sign that the battery is getting weak. I've had the charging system checked twice by different mechanics and both said the alternator is fine, so I'm really confused about why these batteries keep dying so quickly. I'm pretty careful about not leaving lights on or running electronics with the engine off, so I don't think it's user error either. A neighbor suggested that maybe I'm not driving enough to fully recharge the battery, but I do about 30 kilometers a day so that doesn't seem likely. I've also read that some cars need the battery to be "registered" with the ECU so the charging system knows it's new, but I'm not sure if that applies to Hondas or if it's just a European car thing. I was doing some reading online and came across this resource that explained a few things about battery types and what to look for, but honestly I'm still not sure if I should be looking at a different brand or if I should just accept that I'll be replacing batteries every year and a half in this climate. Has anyone else with a CR-V or similar Honda experienced this kind of rapid battery failure, and did you find any particular brand or type that lasted longer than the others? I'm willing to spend more if it actually makes a difference, but I don't want to throw money at the problem if it's just the nature of driving in this heat.
